Our Drama Presentation.

In Drama this half term we are making some form of a presentation on the theatres around the area that do drama/dance based performances and what goes on in them. Its our choice how we present the information, but in the end we should come up with a good structured piece of work that can be presented to the rest of the class. We are working in groups of around 3-5 people and we should all participate. Every Lesson this should be updated.

Lesson 1

I've just started planning my presentation with my group. We've already come up with the decision to make a PowerPoint and add films and music onto it to make it more creative. We've all volunteered to do something for the group and my job is to look into the theatres in more detail and find out about their history. I've just started that and it should be finished my next lesson. I'm quite happy with my group at the moment because we were put into them so that we wouldn't just stay with our friends and work with other people for once. It's given me a chance to get to know others more which was one of my targets for this year.

Lesson 2

I’ve just finished a little role play me and my group produced. We had to come up with a short, no more than 2 minute performance which advertises the theaters and performance spaces around the area. Our group got together and the first thing we done was share ideas. We all came up with something different to add into the performance. It took us quite long to get started because of a few late comers, but we started rehearsing in the end. We managed to complete it but i think we should have rehearsed more to make it clearer. We all had a target audience and ours was teenagers. i found it quite easy because we are teenagers so we no how to act and how our feelings will be towards theaters and performance spaces. Towards the end of the lesson we got to perform ours and get to see others. Watching other peoples, I would have defiantly done things differently and put things clearer for the audience but apart from that i think we done quite well. We were the only group to use computer software in our performance which related to media (another link in the diploma). This piece of performance will be added into our PowerPoint presentation next lesson.

Lesson 3

a brief evaluation of last lesson:

Reflecting on my film performance
I presented information to my target audience by using spray cans and an idea of graffiti to show teenagers on the road having nothing better to do. And also we added slang to make it clearer. I think this was a good idea because I’ve never really thought of a target audience. I also think the idea of spray cans was really good but could have been improved with time.
To make things more informing for the target audience I would have added clearer text and spoken more clearer slang. I think it would make it more interesting and informative because it gives them some way to relate to the performance. If it was me watching the performance, I think I would relate to it quite well because of the slang being added.
Drama was an effective way to present information because you could show visual movement and because it’s more realistic. Expressions, movement, and clear audio were ways of presenting information with the drama presentation that could not be shown using other presentations. Personally, I love drama and I think it is by far the best way to present information and as I’m a visual learner, it was the best way for me to take in the info.
I would add the following into my presentation to make it more informative and educational: Speak clearer and louder, add more movement to make it less boring to watch, change the way we set up the camera and the place we put it, to make it easier to see and hear, extend the time a little further and I would research a little more to get everything 100% accurate. Although all these things needed to be added into the performance, I believe we did quite well and all in all I would give us a rating of 7 out of 10. I’m quite annoyed about the camera work but that’s something that can be improved in a few lessons of teaching.
I learnt that in the area around me, in hackney empire and chats palace there are a variety of performances and even workshops that teenagers can get involved with and these things go on everyday after school and/or on the weekends. I think it’s a brilliant idea because I like getting involved with stuff not just watching it. It makes me more drawn into it. The research we did not only did help with our performance but helped me learn much more about it as well.
To improve my presentation I needed to probably rehearse and get more involved with my group. It took us too long to get started so that was another thing. Now, once I’ve watched all the other performances I would take on the things that they needed to improve on and make sure I’m not making the same mistakes. Its made me more wary watching the other peoples performances, some people came up with such good structured performances in such a short space of time
In my opinion my acting was appalling. I could have done way better watching back the performance and I didn’t try hard enough. I could have extended the script more so it was more flexible and I could add my own expressions and improvise further. The thing I found most effective was the multimedia. No other group had done that so I was quite happy to be the only group to have done it. The things that need working on
were the fact that we came in late to the lesson and took too long to start the work and get rehearsing. We didn’t really participate as a group as well as I knew we could, but that’s something that comes in time I believe.

Lesson 4

In our most recent double lesson we just worked more on our PowerPoint presentation and my group have started putting everything together.

Lesson 5

We've just finished performing our presentation to the rest of the class. I’m quite disappointed with myself because I knew I could do better and I just didn't bother. Watching other peoples presentations was really good for me because I got to see how much work they hade done, then compared it to mine to give myself a brief idea on what band I would get. If I could do it again I would defiantly focus on it more and get the whole group involved with it.
